Jahiem White ‘Working on Comeback’ to WVU, Expected to Be Fully Ready for 2026
A day after WV Sports Now reported more about Nicco Marchiol’s injury, WVU running back Jahiem White speaks out openly about his recovery. Unlike Marchiol, White’s situation sounds far more optimistic for both his own career and his future as a Mountaineer.
“Working on the comeback!,” expressed White as his response to a reporter about his progress and plans moving forward. Like in the WVU on Sports Illustrated report, WV Sports Now has heard that White is expected to make a full recovery and be good to go for next season.
For a more exact timeline, WVU is planning for White to remain a Mountaineer and then maybe even be ready to participate in spring practices, even if in a limited role. If he can’t be ready for spring, White would then be 100% in time for fall camp ahead of the 2026 season.

A season that opened with so much hype for White ended in the middle of Week 2.ย Feeling the support from Mountaineer Nation, White offered an update following successful surgery.
โThank you to Dr. ElAttrache and the staff at Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center. Out of surgery. It went great. On the road to recovery, Thank you for all the continued prayers and support,โ said White.
White went down late in the first half of WVUโs loss to Ohio after the combination of a horse caller and face mask sent him to the ground. He was eventually helped off the field and then carted to the locker room.
At the time of his exit, White had ran for 40 yards on six carries with a touchdown. His 2025 season ends after just 24 carries and 133 yards. He scored two touchdowns in the season opening win over Robert Morris.
