WVU Women Move Up in 1st AP Poll of the Season
The WVU women moved up one spot in the AP Top 25 this week to No. 15.
The Mountaineers began at No. 16 in the preseason rankings and moved up after beginning the season with two blowout victories. WVU got hot in the second half to defeat Towson 85-41 in the season opener last Tuesday. Then, the Mountaineers caused 44 turnovers in a resounding 110-41 win over Niagara on Saturday.
No. 15 is the highest the WVU women have been ranked since achieving the same spot in the 2018 season.
WVU moved up one spot in the rankings due to Duke falling five spots after losing to Maryland. Four Big 12 teams find themselves ranked this week, with Iowa State leading the way at No. 8. Kansas State checks in at No. 10, WVU is No. 15 and Baylor is sitting at No. 17. TCU also received votes.
WVU is back in action tomorrow with the annual Backyard Brawl against arch-rival Pitt. Tipoff from the WVU Coliseum is scheduled for 7 p.m.
