The WVU football staff closes the weekend with another win, a commitment from a 2026 recruit.

Defensive back Makhi Boone announced his commitment to West Virginia late Sunday night.

“After careful consideration and talks with my family and coaches I have decided to de-commit from Miami of Ohio. I will Be continuing my football career as a Mountaineer,” posted Boone on social media.

Boone (6-foot and 175 pounds), who initially committed to Miami (OH), earned an offer from West Virginia earlier in the month. His commitment comes after he spent the weekend in Morgantown, experiencing the celebratory Saturday for the WVU program.

Boone, a native of Lakewood, Ohio, committed to Miami of Ohio in May over offers from schools like Buffalo, Kent State, Ohio, Bowling Green, and Youngstown State.
