4-Star Virginia Running Back Ramon Brown To Announce Commitment Friday

After missing out on 4-star wide receiver Omar Cooper, Jr. on Wednesday, West Virginia has another chance to add 4-star talent to the best WVU recruiting class in years.

4-star running back Ramon Brown announced his Top 5 on the Fourth of July, and he will announce which of those five schools will secure his signature Friday at 5:00 PM during a ceremony with CBSSports.

Brown (5-foot-11, 202 pounds) stars for Manchester High School in Midlothian, Virginia, rushing for 871 and 14 touchdowns (7.6 yards per rush) in just seven games as a junior. He’s narrowed down his 18 offers to just five teams: WVU, Virginia Tech, Penn State, South Carolina and Maryland.

Brown has been very busy on the recruiting trail, with official visits to all five schools in his Top 5. He’s also visited Maryland and WVU twice and Virginia Tech three times. As such, 247Sports currently projects Brown to land with Virginia Tech.

On June 4, Brown visited Morgantown and appears to have enjoyed his visit. Three players from his visiting group (4-star cornerback Jacolby Spells, 3-star safety Mumu Bin-Wahad and 3-star offensive lineman Maurice Hamilton) have already committed to WVU, and 4-star athlete Jaden Mangham and 3-star athlete Christion Stokes are projected by 247 to sign with the Mountaineers.

According to 247Sports, Brown is the 190th-ranked player in the cycle. 247 ranks him as the 19th-rated running back and the eighth-rated recruit from Virginia. Rivals ranks him as the 26th-rated running back and the 11th-rated recruit from Virginia.

If WVU lands Brown, he will join fellow 4-star running back Justin Williams in WVU’s Top 25 (according to 247Sports and Rivals) 2022 recruiting class.
