Gambler’s Corner: Week Four
Put your money where your mouth is!
We’re a little late to the party but in an effort to broaden the horizons here at DubVNation, we have decided that we needed a weekly piece dedicated to those who put their wallet’s on the line when it comes to college football.
Let’s jump right in, shall we?
Hot Picks of the Week
Pick – Florida State (-12) over North Carolina State
Thanks to hurricane Irma, the Seminoles haven’t seen the field since losing to Alabama in Atlanta to open the season. Meanwhile, the Wolfpack are 2-1 after decisive wins over Marshall and Furman. It feels like Vegas is overplaying the loss of Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois by tabbing the Seminoles as a lowly 12-point favorite. Saturday’s contest will be played in Tallahassee and since 2007, the Seminoles have rolled North Carolina State by an average of 20-points per game at home. Look for that trend to continue this week.
Pick – Kent State at Louisville (over 55.5 points)
After taking one on the chin against Clemson last week, expect Louisville to exercise some of their demons against a struggling Golden Flashes team. The Cardinals might hit the over all by themselves and they may have to if Kent State is unable to improve upon its 13-points per game average. Lamar Jackson and the Cardinal’s playoff hopes both took a hit last weekend, but Louisville still averages over 40-points per game against teams not named Clemson. It also helps that Kent State gives up 36-points per contest as well.
Pick-Alabama (-18.5) over Vanderbilt
We get it. Really, we do. Vanderbilt is coming off a surprisingly impressive win over then No. 16 Kansas State, is currently 3-0, and will welcome the Crimson Tide with a sell-out crowd in Nashville. But to say the Commodores keep this game within 3 touchdowns? That’s too much. Alabama is clearly the best team in college football and hasn’t lost to Vanderbilt in Nashville since 1969. Don’t buy into the Vandy hype quite yet.
