WVU Women’s Basketball Moves Up in Latest AP Poll
WVU women’s basketball had a solid past week and voters rewarded them, as they moved up in the latest AP Poll on Monday.
West Virginia moved up two spots to No. 22 in the poll, tying their highest ranking since February 5, two weeks ago when they also came in at No. 22. They come in as one of five Big 12 teams in the AP poll, and hold the third highest ranking. West Virginia is now 22-3 overall and 11-3 in the Big 12.

WVU women’s basketball easily defeated TCU, 77-52, last Tuesday on the road. They also got a big win against No. 23 Oklahoma on Saturday, using a fourth quarter comeback to earn the 70-66 victory. WVU handed Oklahoma just their second loss of the season in conference play, still the least in the Big 12.
Texas remains at No. 5 in the latest AP Poll, with a 24-3 overall record and tied with WVU for second in the Big 12 with an 11-3 conference record.
Kansas State dropped three spots from No. 7 to No. 10 after losing to Iowa State on the road in double overtime last Wednesday and defeating UCF, the worst team in the Big 12, at home by just two points on Saturday.
Oklahoma remained at No. 23, even with the loss to West Virginia, as they defeated then ranked No. 21 Baylor, 84-73, at home last Wednesday. At 12-2 in conference play, they still hold the best record in the Big 12.
Baylor dropped three spots to No. 24 with that loss to Baylor and despite a 61-32 drubbing of Texas Tech at home on Sunday. They come in tied for fourth place with an 8-6 record in the Big 12, along with Kansas and Iowa State.
The WVU women’s basketball team has a huge week ahead, as they travel to battle with No. 10 Kansas State on Wednesday and will host No. 24 Baylor at home on Saturday.
