The WVU football staff couldn’t resist taking a shot at a top prospect from a neighboring state. Immanuel Iheanacho, a class of 2026 offensive tackle viewed as Maryland’s No. 1 player, revealed West Virginia as his latest offer on Monday.

Iheanacho (6-foot-7, 335 pounds) attends Georgetown Preparatory School in Baltimore, Md. Even though the WVU offer is the first one he’s posted about in several days, Iheanacho has already caught the eye of major programs and big brands all across the country.

National recruiting outlets like ESPN, On3 Sports and 247 Sports have awarded Iheanacho five stars and the distinction as the No. 1 overall player in his class. While Rivals hasn’t gone that far yet and tends to wait longer before ranking prospects with multiple high school seasons remaining, they do have him as a three-star recruit and the No. 4 Maryland player.

In addition to the Mountaineers, Iheanacho has offers from major conference programs Alabama, Auburn, Boston College, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Miami (FL), Michigan State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Pitt, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas Texas A&M and Virginia Tech.

Prior to WVU, Oregon and South Carolina were the most recent schools to offer Iheanacho.
