Report: Jordan McCabe Staying at Green Bay Under HC Doug Gottlieb
It’s been another rollercoaster ride this offseason for former WVU guard and assistant Jordan McCabe. McCabe, who was hired at Green Bay as an assistant on April 29, already has a new head coach. Former Green Bay HC Sundance Wicks departed for the Wyoming job that was opened, which UWGB decided on former college basketball point guard and media personality Doug Gottlieb.
McCabe will be staying on Green Bay’s staff under Gottlieb, as first reported by Kyle Malzhan of WFRV Local 5.
Jordan McCabe said in the short term he'll be out on the road in WI recruiting. McCabe was offered by UWGB out of HS. He left. I really appreciated this answer from @JordanMcCabe5 when I asked him this question.
McCabe is going to have a real bright future in the coaching world. https://t.co/tw3K3bScMI pic.twitter.com/b8JJVBkiPl

โI am overwhelmed with gratitude to be coming home!โ McCabe said at the time of his hiring. โMy fiancรฉ Olivia and I want to thank Coach Wicks, Josh Moon, and the entire UWGB family for welcoming us. They have all worked hard at returning the Phoenix basketball program to its rightful place and continue to push it forward. I promise to work every single day and do my best to meet the standard that has been set in Green Bay! Letโs RISE!โ
McCabe was brought in by former head coach Josh Eilert last June to join the West Virginia staff as an assistant. McCabe, who just completed his eligibility at UNLV in 2023, now will begin his second assistant stint as one of the young emerging coaches in college basketball.
As a player, McCabe suited up for the Mountaineers from 2018-21, appearing in 94 games under Bob Huggins. McCabe played two seasons at UNLV after that before joining Eilertโs staff.
