MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – In the midst of discussing how the receivers are looking so far during the spring session, WVU wide receivers coach Bilal Marshall showed some extra love to a local veteran.

Marshall called out Preston Fox as the most consistent receiver so far this spring. According to Marshall, Fox is standing out among the rest due to his maturity and experience around the program.

The Morgantown High School product is entering his redshirt junior season as a Mountaineer, giving him a leg up on younger receivers like Hudson Clement, Traylon Ray and Rodney Gallagher and even a comfortability in the offense that a veteran of college football like newcomer Jaden Bray couldn’t possibly have yet.

Fox burst onto the scene in 2023, catching 26 balls for 368 yards and scoring a couple touchdowns.

Marshall, who is now entering his second season in charge of the receivers, was tasked with having to acclimate a totally new group into the West Virginia culture last year. But now in the spring of 2024, Marshall is a group full of mostly the same players.

Marshall talked about how this allows him to really focus even more on helping the younger receivers take their games to another level. And while doing that, Marshall is blessed with a new addition who can act like an extension of the coaching staff, both on and off the field.

The continuity in the receiver room coupled with ability to continue strengthening a chemistry with quarterback Garrett Greene should allow the offense to be even more explosive in 2024.
