Blitz Guru Jason Hall Jr. | WVU Football All 105
All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2026 WVU Football Roster.
Jason Hall Jr. came within a game of the FCS national championship last season, playing 14 games at linebacker for the Villanova Wildcats. While he didn’t start, Hall showed a knack for getting into the backfield, posting 3.5 sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss. He also returned the occasional kickoff, a testament to his athleticism as a 6-foot-1, 222 pound linebacker.
Hall entered the transfer portal at season’s end, bringing him to Morgantown.
West Virginia has plenty of accomplished talent at linebacker, so Hall is likely to slot in as a reserve this season. His ability to disrupt plays in the backfield could provide a bonus in blitz packages. Villanova runs a 3-3-5 base defense, giving Hall added experience against the pass.
40 • Jason Hall Jr., redshirt junior linebacker
Last Year: Hall played on a Villanova squad that made the FCS semifinals, proving his ability to get into the backfield.
Stats: 40 tackles (28 solo), 3.5 sacks, 4.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
Post-Camp Outlook: While Hall earned playing time for one of the premier FCS programs in each of the last two seasons — perhaps indicating an easier transition than a transfer from another FCS program — he also didn’t start. Hall will need to prove himself during fall practices in order to take a swing at a starting role.
Projected Role: Expect Hall to earn snaps on both defense and special teams, potentially as a reserve.
Accolades, Highlights: Hall made a run to the FCS semifinals during his redshirt sophomore season at Villanova. Primarily playing linebacker, he also has the athleticism to return some kickoffs.
