Home Visit Leads to WVU Football in 2026 4-Star RB Evan Hampton’s Top 7

As a hint the WVU football program is still in the running, a highly coveted running back recruit included the Mountaineers in his new top seven.
In addition to West Virginia, Evan Hampton is also considering Duke, Indiana, Louisville, North Carolina State, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech. WVU is the only Big 12 school that made the cut.

This latest development in Hampton’s recruitment comes a week after WVU sent Chad Scott to visit the four-star back at his home.
Hampton (6-foot and 208 pounds), a member of the 2026 class at Owensboro High School in Owensboro, Ky., talked about his experience with Scott on social media. “Great home visit with coach Chad Scott. I appreciate you coming and spending some time with my family and I!,โ said Hampton on X (formerly Twitter).
Hampton is considered a four-star player by multiple national recruiting outlets and ranked as one of the five best in Kentucky by 247 Sports.
Hampton is becoming a priority ย for running back coaches around the country. In addition to meeting with Scott, he met with coaches from Power Four programs Boston College, Stanford, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech as well. However, those schools are far from the only other programs interested in Hampton.
He has 23 total offers, which also include Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Syracuse, TCU among others.
Hampton ran for 1,609 yards and scored 24 touchdowns during his junior season in 2024.
It should be noted that Penn State offered Hampton shortly after he released his current top seven.
