In a draft class loaded with wide receiver talent, WVU product Devin Carter has been flying under the radar. But now with the NFL Draft about a week away, at least one NFL reporter is talking about Carter.

Aaron Wilson, who covers the NFL and the Houston Texans for Houston’s NBC affiliate KPRC 2 TV, took to X (Twitter) to point out attributes that make Carter stand out, even among a crowded crop of playmakers.

Late Tuesday night, Wilson also added that Carter (6-foot-3, 3/8) would have been the third tallest wideout at NFL Combine. He also added that Carter’s wingspan (79 1/2) would have ranked third as well. third-longest wingspan.

For some reporting, Wilson claims Carter is actually drawing interest from teams who are in need of a bigger player to use as a red-zone threat and downfield option.

These comments from a long tenured reporter like Wilson come six days after ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed Carter underwent a core muscle procedure and will rehab the next 4-6 weeks. According to Schefter’s report, Carter should be ready for rookie mini-camp if he gets drafted or signs with an NFL team.

Carter transferred to West Virginia for the 2023 season after spending five years at North Carolina State.

With his college career now over, Devin Carter is hoping to get an opportunity at playing in the NFL. Carter participated in the Hula Bowl in January.

In his lone season as a Mountaineer, Carter caught 27 balls for 501 yards and scored two touchdowns. Overall throughout his entire college career, Carter recorded 145 receptions for 2,407 yards and 12 touchdowns. He spent the first five years of his career with North Carolina State before transferring to West Virginia.

Carter averaged over 18 yards per reception last season in his lone year with WVU.

Seriously? One local reporter in Texas breaks the previously unknown story that Carter is tall and thus has long arms and you trumpet it as a headline?

Some days are just slow news days. Accept that, and don’t waste readers’ time with fluff.
