Late last night the Mountaineers baseball team picked up a commitment from outfielder Victor Scott.

Scott, who hails from Atlanta, Georgia, chose West Virginia over offers from Florida State College at Jacksonville, Bucknell, Shorter and Georgia State.

Scott has the ability to play all three outfield spots but will primarily play center field in Morgantown. As a senior, Scott posted a .372 batting average and also hit for the cycle in a game. Victor was named first team all-county, first team all-region and honorable mention for all-state.

“I really enjoyed the culture that was presented and the fact that all attention is on WVU sports,” Scott said on choosing West Virginia. “Coach Sabins is a great guy and we’ve built a strong relationship over the past couple of months talking on the phone and in person,” he continued.

When asked what his message to the fans would be he responded, “West Virginia has something to look forward to the next couple of years. So, saddle up and enjoy the ride! Go Mountaineers!”

Scott will appear on our FOX Sports affiliate, “The Brandon Lowe Show” next Tuesday at 5:15pm. You can stream the interview live on Facebook or tune into AM 950 if you are in the greater Charleston area.
