The West Virginia Mountaineers (1-0) welcome the Atlantic Sun’s Stetson Hatters (0-2) to Morgantown on November 6, 2026. The Mountaineers look to build on a dominant opening night, while the Hatters arrive still searching for their first win. The starkest contrast entering this non-conference clash is the early-season scoring margin disparity.

West Virginia suffocated its first opponent, beating Niagara by 45 and giving up only 46 points. Conversely, Stetson has struggled at both ends of the floor, posting a -19.5 margin across two losses. Cracking West Virginiaโ€™s stifling half court defense under the lights of Hope Coliseum presents a formidable task for a Stetson rotation trying to find its footing.

West Virginia’s Outlook

Under head coach Ross Hodge, West Virginiaโ€™s physical halfcourt identity was on full display last time out in a 91-46 dismantling of Niagara. The Mountaineers dictated the tempo and showcased efficient execution, shooting 52.5% from the floor and 43.3% from beyond the arc. They protected the basketball with just nine turnovers, crashed the glass for 36 rebounds, and utilized a deep rotation that generated 36 bench points.

Freshman guard Miles Sadler has immediately emerged as the catalyst, initiating possessions to the tune of 16.0 points and 9.0 assists in 28.0 minutes per night. In the frontcourt, fifth-year forward Brenen Lorient provides veteran stability with 13.0 points and 5.0 rebounds. Sophomore center Mouhamed Sylla anchors the paint, pulling down a team-best 7.0 rebounds while adding 10.0 points, making West Virginia a punishing matchup inside.

Stetson’s Outlook

Under head coach Donnie Jones, the Hatters run a methodical offense heavily reliant on interior efficiency over perimeter volume. Stetson averages 63.5 points on a solid 46.2% from the floor, but floor spacing remains an issue with the team shooting just 30.0% from three-point range. The Hatters’ most glaring vulnerability is on the glass, where they generate a meager 20.0 rebounds per contest while surrendering 83.0 points per game on the defensive end.

Stetsonโ€™s halfcourt attack flows through senior forward Collin Kuhl, a highly efficient post threat pacing the roster with 18.5 points and 5.5 rebounds on 60.9% shooting. Graduate forward Magnus Entenmann provides secondary frontcourt production, adding 10.5 points and 4.5 boards per game on a 60.0% clip. Sophomore guard Thiago Sucatzky operates as the lead facilitator, distributing 4.5 assists per game to orchestrate the offense.

Rankings

Both West Virginia (1-0) and Stetson (0-2) enter this matchup unranked in the AP Top 25 poll. However, early-season RPI rankings show the Mountaineers sitting at No. 22, while the winless Hatters currently hold the No. 157 spot.
