New WVU Football 1965 Throwback Uniform Appears in Video Game

WVU fans can now witness the new football throwback uniform in a video game before even being able to see the Mountaineers debut it in a game.
The West Virginia program shared a video from EA Sports with highlights of WVU wearing the 1965 throwbacks just a few days after the official unveiling.

On Monday, West Virginia revealed a fresh new take on the programโs helmet and uniform from the 1965 season. This announcement even makes a past comment from WVU director of athletics Wren Baker a reality.
Last May, Baker responded to fanโs post with old helmets by saying heโs a โmassiveโ fan of the 1960s ear gold helmet with WVU over a baby blue state design and that the 2025 season would mark 60 years since 1965, one of the special seasons in the programโs history.
The Mountaineers won one of the programโs 15 conference titles in 1965, going 4-0 in Southern Conference play. And with the Backyard Brawl set to take place in Morgantown in 2025, itโs important to note West Virginia won the 1965 edition at old Mountaineer Field, 63-48.
It remains to be seen which home game WVU decides to wear this new throwback uniform.
Rich Rodriguezโs second tenure as head coach of the Mountaineers will officially kickoff at home on August 30 as West Virginia hosts Robert Morris.
For a related story, WVU goes into detail on what went into creating the 1965 throwbacks uniform.
