Pat McAfee Fought Through Illness to Pick Mountaineers on GameDay
Like the true gamer he is, Pat McAfee dug deep to stay on television so he could pick his Mountaineers again on College GameDay.
As he has done all season, the WVU legend turned media mogul picked West Virginia to win. But this time he also had to bow out of the segment before he could make the pick.
McAfee confirmed a report from his ESPN colleague Adam Schefter that he was throwing up during commercial breaks during Saturday’s College GameDay. The belief is McAfee may be dealing with food poisoning.

I donโt know if it was some spoilt fruit or some meat from last night.. nonetheless.. NEEDED to get the demon out but as you all know and the old hatin ass Whiteโs would never understand.. we donโt miss segments.. we donโt lose energy.. we grow stronger in theโฆ https://t.co/OZcGoe9QMM

But McAfee was not about to let a surprising illness stop him from being the only picker to get the WVU graphic up on the screen. McAfee also still went with West Virginia even though the Mountaineers are listed as a 14-point underdog to TCU tonight.

To keep up with their running back and forth this season, Kirk Herbstreit actually said “anybody but West Virginia” after announcing his pick of TCU. It’s safe to say Herbstreit will remain the nemesis of Mountaineer Nation.

Showing no mercy, Herbstreit even joked with McAfee about throwing up.
I think I ate something spoiled..

McAfee, to no surprise, was the only GameDay picker to roll with West Virginia over TCU in Fort Worth. Desmond Howard, Lee Corso, Herbstreit and guest picker Ken Jeong all went with the Horned Frogs.
West Virginia and TCU will kick off at 8 p.m. EST in Fort Worth, Texas on Saturday. Both the Mountaineers and Horned Frogs are 3-1 heading into week five. West Virginia is currently rolling on a three-game winning streak, beating Duquesne, Pitt and Texas Tech. TCU has also won three in a row after losing to Deion Sanders and Colorado in week one.
WVU is looking to win their fourth game in a row for the first time in program history since September 2018 under former head coach Dana Holgorsen.
WV Sports Nowย will keep you updated before, during and after the game tonight.
