Pat McAfee Reveals How Kirk Herbstreit Will Pay Off Their WVU Bet
Remember the bet between Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit? Well, WVU exceeded expectations in 2023 and it’s time for Herbstreit to pay up.
Since Herbstreit simply said “if WVU wins more than six games I’ll give you anything you want” to McAfee when they made their bet, fans have been left wondering how the long tenured ESPN college football analyst would live up to his end of the bargain.
McAfee finally provided that answer when prompted to discuss the bet during his daily talk show on Friday. And while McAfee did say this is not officially scheduled yet, Herbstreit will be joining him in Morgantown for an event that will both resolve their bet and support a good cause.
Proceeds from this event with McAfee and Herbstreit will be split between the WVU Children’s Hospital and West Virginia’s NIL collective Country Roads Trust.
Watch the video below shared by the official account of the WVU football program for McAfee’s full explanation of how his College GameDay colleague will pay off their bet.

McAfee did say he’s unsure if this will be possible, but it’s safe to say WVU will make something this happen, especially now that it’s been advertised.
As everyone knows by now, the Mountaineers, who were projected by odds makers to win less than five games, ended up going 9-4 (6-3) with a win over North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl to cap off the year.
