Coach Earns Right to Continue at School After Baylor Beats WVU
Saturday started with two coaches looking to gain security about next season, but the day ended with only one ensuring one more season at his school. After beating West Virginia, Baylor feels Dave Aranda has now earned the right to continue leading the Bears.
According to multiple reports, including the initial one from Colt Barber of SickEm 365, Baylor is now committed to retaining Aranda.
Similar to Neal Brown’s situation at WVU, Baylor fans have been growing frustrated with Aranda’s tenure. However, Baylor has now won four straight and has locked up bowl eligibility following a rough start to the year.
Baylor now sits at 6-4 (4-3, Big 12) with two more weeks left in the 2024 regular season. Aranda has accumulated a 29-29 overall record and a 1-1 mark in bowl games. But despite his up and down tenure, Aranda did win a Big 12 title and Sugar Bowl in 2021.
As for West Virginia, the Mountaineers are now 5-5 (4-3, Big 12) after the loss, their fourth home loss of the season.
The devastation of another home loss coupled with Traylon Rayโs injury created a very somber mood for WVU after falling 49-35 to Baylor on Saturday night.

โI get the fansโ frustration. Iโm frustrated. You gotta be able to win at home. Our people here deserve to see wins,โ said Brown.
That comment embodied the entire theme of Brownโs postgame press conference.
โWe have a disappointed group. I love them and thatโs unconditional, but we didnโt play well enough,โ added Brown, who also was forced to confirm that wide receiver Traylon Ray will miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious leg injury.
For a related story, WVU fans voiced their disgust about West Virginiaโs third straight home loss.
