Remembering Former WVU QB Chris Gray 23 Years After 9/11
The date September 11, 2001, or simply 9/11 as it’s often labeled, will forever live in the hearts and minds of Americans everywhere. In addition to what it means to the country, that day also holds a sad significance for the WVU community.
On that day, Mountaineer Nation lost one of their own. Former West Virginia quarterback Chris Gray was among those who died on that fateful day. And now 23 years later, Gray’s legacy continues to be remembered by WVU.
Just as the program does every year, WVU Football posted a tribute to Gray on social media.

Gray was at WVU from 1988-91, one of the most successful periods in program history. Mostly serving as a a backup to Mountaineer legend Major Harris, Gray did throw for 400 yards and a touchdown during the 1991 season.
After graduating college and briefly trying out for the Miami Dolphins, the Manalapan, N.J. native started working for the financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald spread out throughout several upper level floors of One World Trade Center in Manhattan, N.Y.
