Former WVU WR David Sills V will be released by the New York Giants, as reported by ESPN’s Jordan Schultz on Tuesday. Sills most recently signed a reserve contract with the Giants in late January after playing in nine games during 2022.

In Sills’ final preseason game against the Jets, the 6-foot-3 receiver caught six passes for 81 yards, including a touchdown in the final minute.

Sills, a former standout receiver at West Virginia, was included in the Giants’ 53-man roster in 2022, making past the Tuesday cuts last summer. Sills recorded 106 yards on 11 receptions in the first eight weeks before becoming inactive for the rest of the season. Sills’ best game was against the Carolina Panthers where he tallied 37 receiving yards.

Sills was preparing to enter his third season with the Giants. After the 2019 NFL Draft, Sills was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent. Sills spent four months with the Bills before being waived. From then, Sills was signed by the Giants as a practice squad member that year.

Prior to his NFL career, Sills played three seasons for the Mountaineers in 2015 and 2017-18, totaling 132 receptions for 2,097 yards and 35 touchdowns.
