Report: WVU Football Player Stabbed After Altercation
As first reported by Mike Casazza of 247 Sports, the Morgantown Police Department was notified early morning that an individual had been stabbed in front of 314 High Street at 1:17 a.m.. The individual who made the first contact with police was driving the stabbed victim to Ruby Memorial Hospital. The police report noted that the stabbing “was a result [sic] a verbal disagreement that escalated”.
The victim was taken into surgery with noted lacerations to the back and stomach.
As it remains an active investigation, names have not been released; a WVU athletic department spokesperson said that they can not release the victim’s name until a suspect is apprehended and the case has been closed. Until then, the victim is out of surgery and recovering, and the male suspect remains at large.
