On a day set aside to honor the success of the past, WVU tries to continue the momentum built from last week’s upset of Houston. Can West Virginia win two in a row for the first all season or will they allow Colorado to snap their own losing skid?
Deion Sanders Labels Rich Rodriguez a โCoaching Legendโ Ahead of WVU vs. Colorado
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders was very complimentary of WVUโs Rich Rodriguez ahead of their upcoming matchup.
โCoach Rodriguez is a coaching legend, I respect the heck out of him. He has another chance at the coaching realm, and heโs back and coaching with a vengeance,โ said Sanders when asked about facing Rodriguez during his weekly press conference.
โBig East, Pac-12, CUSA, NAIA Coach of the Year. He is a coaching legend to me and I love the passion and tenacity and mental and physical toughness that he coaches with.โ
Rodriguez was asked if he has any existing relationship with Sanders earlier in the week. He explained the two have a mutual respect, but havenโt communicated that much in recent years.
Rodriguez did bring up how the Pro Football Hall of Famerโs involvement in recruiting Noel Devine to WVU during his first tenure.
Steve Slaton to Receive Special Honor at WVU Game Ahead of College Football HOF Induction
WVU fans in attendance when WVU takes on Colorado will be asked to participate in a special tribute to Steve Slaton.
The National Football Foundation will be awarding Slaton a special on-campus salute ahead of his upcoming induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Slaton will be officially inducted into the NFF College Football Hall of Fame during the 67thAnnual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. This black-tie affair will feature the induction of the 2025 NFF College Football Hall of Fame.
In addition to Slaton West Virginia will also honor the 2005 Sugar Bowl champions on Saturday afternoon.
Rich Rodriguez Talks Candidly About How Scotty Fox Can Get to Next Level
After praising his freshman quarterbackโs performancefollowing WVUโs upset of Houston on Saturday, Rich Rodriguez talked candidly about what Scotty Fox still needs to work on Tuesday.
While Rodriguez reiterated that Fox โplayed well, especially for a freshmanโ as West Virginiaโs offense enjoyed its most productive game all year, he also made it clear that the young quarterback has plenty of room to grow.

Rodriguez pointed to โseeing the whole fieldโ and anticipating checks and even the next play call as what will get Fox to the next level. The improved play of the offensive line aided Fox as well, according to his head coach.
WVU Football Set as Rare Favorite Against Struggling Colorado
For the first time in two months, WVU will enter a game as the favorite. West Virginiaโs 45-35 upset win on the road at Houston has triggered oddsmakers buying in on the Mountaineers for at least one week.
At the open of the week, DraftKings had WVU as a 5.5-point favorite in their upcoming matchup with Colorado. FanDuel was even more confident by setting the Mountaineers at -6.5.
While West Virginia is still only 3-6 and 1-5 in Big 12 play, the offense put up its best performance of the season against the Cougars. Scotty Fox led the WVU offense to 403 total yards with 246 registered on the ground. The defense even forced four turnovers as well, making big plays when necessary.
Also leading to West Virginia being the favorite at home, Colorado is coming off another blowout loss. Deion Sandersโ team fell to Arizona 52-17 and now has the exact same 3-6 (1-5, Big 12) record.
West Virginia and Colorado will kickoff from Milan Puskar Stadium at noon ET. The game will air nationally on TNT.
