Tip-Off Time Announced for WVU WBB’s Second Round Game

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After advancing to the second round on Saturday with an 82-54 win over Miami (Ohio), WVU women’s basketball will play Kentucky on Monday evening.

Tip-off between the Mountaineers and Wildcats is set for 5 pm ET. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.

West Virginia will try to reach the program’s first Sweet 16 since 1992.

To speak to the complete effort in the first round win, four different Mountaineers reached double figures in scoring. Sydney Shaw led the way with 19 points, connecting on 6-of-12 from the field. She added nine rebounds. Gia Cooke put up 18 of her own and Jordan Harrison scored 15 points with one three, eight assists and four rebounds. Kierra Wheeler rounded out the big night with 14 points, tying Shaw for the team lead with nine rebounds and three assists.

The WVU women march on and will face Kentucky on Monday in the second round, providing fans one last opportunity to watch their team play at home. A win over Kentucky gets West Virginia to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1992 and for only the second time on the womenโ€™s side in program history.
