Top 2027 Indiana RHP Prospect Commits to WVU Baseball

Continuing their hot streak in recruiting future Mountaineers, the WVU baseball program gained another commitment for their 2027 class on Wednesday morning.

Right-handed pitcher Cole Cheatham revealed his commitment on social media.

“I’m excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at West Virginia University. I’m honored for the opportunity to represent a baseball program, coaches, and community that I so strongly believe in. First and foremost, I would like to thank God for allowing me to pursue my dreams and for giving me this opportunity – for my good and His glory. Thank you to my family, friends, teammates, and coach Isaac Sampan for all your support throughout the years and for assisting me through the recruiting process,” said Cheatham in a statement.

Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 230 pounds, the Union County, Ind. prospect brings a an overpowering size to the mound.

Cheatham has reached 95 mph with his fastball and also has a repertoire of low 80s changeup and curveball and even a slider in the upper 70s.

A product of Canes Midwest American, Cheatham is one of Indiana’s top prospects in the 2027 class and is ranked among Baseball America’s Top 100 high school draft prospects as well.
