WVU Baseball Adds Arm, Bat to 2027 Recruiting Class
There’s reason for West Virginia fans to celebrate beyond the Backyard Brawl football win over Pitt. The WVU baseball program closed the weekend with a couple notable commitments, enhancing its strong recruiting class that’s already recognized as one of the best in the country.
First, Jaden Bakhit, a right-handed pitcher in the 2027 class from Ohio, announced his commitment to the Mountaineers Sunday evening.
Bakhit attends William Mason High School and also plays travel ball with as a member of the Cincinnati Spikes. Listed at 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, he brings a big frame to go along with his fastball that has reached 93 mph.
Then later in the night, WVU gained another powerful bat to their future lineup in Daniel Padilla, a 2027 outfielder/first baseman.
“Iโm thankful for everyone whoโs supported me in baseball and for Christ guiding me through it all. Iโm blessed to announce my commitment to the University of West Virginia,” said Padilla on X (formerly Twitter).

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Padilla is a product of Oboe, Fla. He plays for the TNXL Academy and is part of the Florida Canes travel program.
Perfect Game has awarded Padilla a 9.5 rating on its Player Rating System.
