Trey Lathan’s Production for Kansas to Benefit West Virginia

Ahead of his second season at Kansas, former Mountaineer Trey Lathan is still thinking of his time in West Virginia.

Lathan’s production for Kansas will now benefit West Virginia after all.

“This season, I’m proud to give back to something bigger than football. For every tackle I make this year, I’ll be donating $50 each to Miami Children’s Hospital and WVU Children’s Hospital to support the incredible work they do for children and families,” he posted on social media on Friday.

Lathan transferred to the Jayhawks ahead of the 2025 season and led his team with 86 total tackles and recorded seven tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, five pass breakups and an interception.

He recorded 79 combined tackles, nine for a loss and, two sacks and a fumble recovery during his final season for WVU in 2024.

Lathan, a Goulds, Fla. native, made 27 tackles in 2023 before suffering a season ending injury at TCU. He registered seven total tackles in West Virginia’s Frisco Bowl loss to close the season.

“Football is my life, but I learned my life isn’t over. It put it in perspective.. during those 5-6 months I had to really focus on my life and getting it back on track,” said Lathan while opening up about his recovery process while preparing for the 2024 season in April of that year.
