Travis Trickett Takes South Florida OC Job
West Virginia’s tight ends and inside receivers coach Travis Trickett is headed to the University of South Florida.
Source: #SouthFlorida is expected to hire #WVU tight ends/inside receivers coach Travis Trickett as offensive coordinator. Trickett has coordinator experience from Georgia St, FAU and Samford. Would replace Charlie Weis Jr. @mikecasazza first reported Trickett as target for USF.

This doesn’t come particularly as a surprise, as Trickett’s ties to the USF coaches go back a decade, but it remains a huge loss for WVU head coach Neal Brown’s staff, which has stayed relatively complete since 2019’s hiring. With a tight end room returning zero players with practical receptions from 2021 though, the outlook is bleak. Add a recently-departed tight ends coach, and Brown is left with a gaping hole in an already severely-lacking offensive pass game for 2022.
Losing Trickett also diminishes Brown’s Floridian recruiting prowess. Trickett was the sole recruiter who brought 2021 National Signing Day’s four-star CB Jacolby Spells, three-star LB Travious Lathan, and three-star TE De’Carlo “CJ” Donaldson out of USF’s backyard.
