MORGANTOWN, W.Va – Unfortunately for West Virginia head coach Neal Brown, Charles Woods’ status wasn’t the most prominent injury to discuss at his weekly press conference, but it was one he did touch on.

In the midst of discussing the recent loss to Texas, the plan moving forward and the health of CJ Donaldson, Brown did comment on the probability of Mountaineer Nation seeing Woods back on the field this season.

“That’s still the hope,” Brown answered when asked by WVSN’s Mike Asti about Woods’ health and if the team was still operating under the belief he was going to be back at some point.

Woods has been out since suffering an ankle injury early in the Week1 game in Pittsburgh. The veteran cornerback had to be carted off the Acrisure Stadium field during the Backyard Brawl. Brown was initially noncommittal about discussing Woods’ injury until social media posts alluded to his surgery.
