UPDATE: WVU RB CJ Donaldson Progressing, Return to Play Status Unknown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – After such a brutal night in the loss to Texas that extended well beyond the final score by definition, West Virginia head coach Neal Brown was instantly asked about the current health status of his team, in particular CJ Donaldson.

To no surprise, Brown was quick to classify the freshman running back as out for Thursday night’s collision with Baylor, something he also stated a week earlier but wanted to emphasize again. Brown has said Donaldson is part of the NCAA’s concussion protocol process, which means he will need to be cleared to return to action.

Donaldson, who has emerged as a star this season, despite never having played running back before and being listed as a tight end, had to be carted off the field in Austin after ensuring a knee to his head. Donaldson gave a thumbs up before leaving the field and it was announced that he was moving his extremities and responsive while being attended to at a nearby hospital.

Brown detailed more about Donaldson during his bye week press conference last week.
