West Virginia has contacted Belmont transfer guard Will Richard, first reported by Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers. Richard just completed his freshman season at Belmont under head coach Casey Alexander.

Richard (6-foot-5, 195 pounds) played 33 games for the Bruins averaging 12.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.8 blocks this season. The Fairburn, Ga, native helped Belmont to a 25-8 record, finishing second in the Ohio Valley Conference.

After just one season, Richard entered the transfer portal on Tuesday.

“With careful prayer and consideration with my family. I have decided to enter the transfer portal,” Richard said on Twitter. “I wish all of the Belmont community the very best in the years to come and I will forever cherish the friendships and bonds I have developed during my time here.”

Richard will have three years of eligibility remaining. WV Sports Now will keep up to date with the latest recruiting and transfer portal news during the offseason.
