The Mountaineers are now making a push for a veteran offensive lineman who just recently announced he’s transferring.

West Virginia sent an offer to Houston transfer Cam’Ron Johnson on Thursday, extending the offer just a day after he entered the portal.

Johnson, listed at 6’4″, 305 pounds, was named a first-team All-American Athletic Conference selection as a sophomore last season and started all 13 games for the Cougars.

He was responsible for allowing only one sack out of 556 snaps and not surrendering any in the final 11 games and 473 snaps during the 2022 season. WVU has plenty of company in their pursuit of Johnson. The former class of 2019 3-star prospect out of Shadow Creek High School in Houston, Texas has also received interest from Arizona State, California, Maryland, Missouri and South Carolina.

Out of high school, Johnson decided to stay home and attend Houston despite offers from Arizona, Colorado, Texas Tech, Indiana, SMU and Colorado State.
