West Virginia LB Ja’Corey Hammett Enters Transfer Portal

West Virginia linebacker Ja’Corey Hammett announced on social media that he will enter the transfer portal. Hammett spent one year at WVU.

“I will be entering the transfer portal,” Hammett wrote on Thursday.

Hammett (6-foot-1, 203 pounds) played one game in the 2021 season against Baylor, recording two total tackles. Hammett was awarded a redshirt and was planning a second season with the Mountaineers.

The Miami, FL, native came to West Virginia as a 3-star out of the 2021 class. Hammett was recruited by Coastal Carolina, Kentucky, Miami, Nebraska, Pitt, South Carolina, Tennessee, UAB and others. The linebacker was recruited by former WVU TE coach Travis Trickett.

Hammett has four years of eligibility remaining.
