In the era of air raid and spread college offenses, you can never have enough wide receivers. West Virginia has a deep group of talented playmakers on the roster right now, but the hunt for more is always ongoing.

One of the players who could potentially join WVU in the future is 2023 three-star wide receiver Ayden Greene from Powell High School in Powell, Tennessee. Greene (6-foot-1, 167 pounds) has picked up offers from Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Tulane, Virginia and now West Virginia.

Greene plays on a very good Powell team that features 2022 five-star defensive tackle Walter Nolen, the top-ranked recruit in the cycle according to 247Sports, but Greene has flashed his two-way potential as a junior this season in his play as a wide receiver and cornerback.

As a sophomore last season, Greene racked up 35 catches for 566 yards and seven touchdowns as a wideout, and on defense, he accumulated 18 tackles (16 solo), eight passes defended, an interception and a forced fumble and recovery.

In seven games this season, Greene has caught 29 balls for 392 yards and four touchdowns while racking up nine tackles (eight solo) and two passes defended in the secondary.

According to 247Sports, Greene is rated as the 39th-ranked wide receiver and the ninth-ranked recruit in Tennessee in the class of 2023. Rivals is a bit lower on him, rating him as the 46th-ranked wide receiver and the 11th-ranked recruit from Tennessee.

Neither 247Sports nor Rivals has projected Greene’s commitment yet as he’s still only a junior.
