WVU Baseball Receives Commitment from Transfer Infielder

After seeing five players transfer away from the program in the past two weeks, WVU Baseball received their first reinforcement of the offseason when Houston Christian University infielder Reed Chumley announced his commitment to the Mountaineers.
Committed. All glory to God. Thankful for the journey and everyone who has been apart of it. Excited to see what this next chapter holds! pic.twitter.com/zSFLYPiS95

Chumley, a rising senior, hit .392 for the Huskies in 40 games this past season, primarily serving as a corner infielder. He hit 11 home runs for the Southland conference team in 2023, learning from one of the 21st century’s premier power hitters in head coach Lance Berkman.
The Mountaineers already have a pair of true freshmen first baseman in Ellis Garcia and Sam White. Garcia made the majority of starts at third and White bounced around the field as needed. With first baseman Grant Hussey pretty well entrenched across the diamond, so it’ll be interesting to see how Chumley fits into Randy Mazey’s WVU baseball program.
