Another day means WVU baseball star JJ Wetherholt has been named a finalist for another national award. This time, Wetherholt was placed in the running for the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award.

This award is presented by SR Bats in conjunction with the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation. Wetherholt now becomes a finalist after not even initially being included on any watch list until the season got underway.

The BBNCSA originally nominated 51 players at the beginning of the year and then added eight more, including Wetherholt, to its midseason watch list. The honor is based on a combination of performance at the plate, academics, and personal integrity.

Joining Wetherholt as finalists are LSU’s Dylan Crews, FAU’s Nolan Schanuel and Charlie Condon of Georgia. The BBNCSA winner will be announced later this month.

Just yesterday, Wetherhlt was announced as a finalist for the Dick Howser Trophy by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. He has also received recognition as a first-team All-American from multiple outlets.
