WVU Baseball Sees Big 12 Opener Postponed

WVU Baseball saw their Big 12 road opener at Oklahoma State postponed until Saturday, March 15 as dangerously high winds sweep the region.
Originally set for 7 p.m. starts on March 14 and 15, West Virginia (15-1) and Oklahoma State will now play the first two games of their series as part of a doubleheader with times not yet announced. ESPN+ holds the broadcasting rights for the series.
Griffin Kirn (3-0, 2.35 ERA) and Gavin Van Kempen (2-0, 3.86 ERA) are likely to start the first two games of the series for the Mountaineers, who remain outside the Top 25 in most major polls despite their strong start to the season. Powered by a combination of savvy veterans like Logan Sauve and Brodie Kresser as well as exciting freshmen like catcher Gavin Kelly โ whose .407 batting average ranks second on the team โ the Mountaineers look to improve on their 2024 campaign, to this point the best finish in program history, which saw them make the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament.
For a related story, WVU Baseball has a unique catcher inย Gavin Kelly.
