West Virginia basketball’s social media accounts teased the return of the black uniforms against Pitt on Dec. 6. WVU asks fans to wear black for a blackout theme in the Backyard Brawl.

West Virginia has not worn black in basketball since the early-2010s. The infamous uniforms are mostly remembered for the 2010 run to the Final Four. That team’s leading scorer, Da’Sean Butler, is currently an assistant for the Mountaineers.

WVU will welcome Pitt for the 190th edition of the basketball Backyard Brawl. West Virginia enters the game on a six-game winning streak dating back to 2012. Pitt, who returned to the NCAA Tournament last season, looks to spoil the fun at the WVU Coliseum next Wednesday. West Virginia and Pitt will tipoff at 9 p.m. on ESPN2.
