WVU Flips 4-Star Cornerback Dawayne Galloway
Even without a head coach, WVU football pulled off a signing day surprise by signing four-star cornerback Dawayne Galloway on Wednesday.
Galloway (6-foot-1, 175 pounds) was originally committed to Purdue but de-committed this fall. He chose to ultimately sign with the Mountaineers on Wednesday.

Galloway is from Columbus, Oh. and played at Marion-Franklin High School. WVU hosted Galloway for a visit in June, but he initially verbally committed to the Boilermakers. WVU got back in the mix once he de-committed in October. He was recruited by WVU interim defensive coordinator Jeff Koonz and defensive backs coach ShaDon Brown.
ESPN and 247Sports rate Galloway as a four-star recruit and top-10 prospect in Ohio this year. Rivals and On3 have him slightly lower as a three-star.
In addition to WVU and Purdue, Galloway held offers from Arizona State, Kentucky, Syracuse, Arkansas, Auburn, Central Michigan, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Kent State, Liberty, Marshall, Maryland, Miami (Oh.), Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tenessee, Texas A&M, Toledo, UCF and Wisconsin.
