WVU Football recruit safety Keelan Flowe

With class of 2024 recruits starting to announce commitments, the WVU football program will soon learn if they landed a safety they have been after for awhile.

Keelan “KJ” Flowe told WV Sports Now that he plans to reveal his decision at the end of June. He also tweeted “commitment coming soon, stay tuned!” prior to at least narrowing it down further to a late June timetable.

The Charlotte, North Carolina native will be attending West Virginia’s football camp on June 9 to 11.

WVSN spoke with Flowe, who is listed at 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds, soon after he received an offer from the Mountaineers on March 6.

“They watched my film and they loved it and knew they had to offer me,” said Flowe at the time.

Could 2024 Safety Recruit Keelan Flowe be the Perfect Fit for West Virginia Defense?

Flowe said assistant coach Dontae Wright is the coach he’s been speaking with the most on the West Virginia staff. Wright’s main role is to work with the safeties. “He just told me that he likes the type of player I am and how I can play corner sand safety, and how I can make plays, like making tackles in coverage,” said Flowe about what Coach Wright said to him about his film.

Flowe even offered his own evaluation of his game. “I’m a great DB that can play anywhere on the backend and I’m very vocal. I like to run the defense and get people where they need to be,” he explained.

To this point, Flowe has also earned offers from Appalachian State, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Elon, Georgia State, Jackson State, JMU, Liberty, Marshall, Old Dominion, Rhode Island and Troy. North Carolina State has even shown interest.
