WVU Football Going After 2026 3-Star Athletic WR in Traditional Big Ten Territory

The WVU football staff sent an offer to a highly coveted wide receiver in the middle of traditional Big Ten territory. Zachary Washington announced his West Virginia offer on Tuesday, adding the Mountaineers to his growing list.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, Washington, a 2026 player out of St. Francis High School in Wheaton, Ill., has offers from upwards of 20 schools. Some of his top Power Four offers include Illinois, Indiana, Kansas State, Louisville, Miami (FL), Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Purdue and Syracuse. He also just recently spent time at Wisconsin’s Junior Day.
Ranked as a consensus three-star prospect, Washington is being recruited as wide receiver by most schools but is listed as just an athlete by 247 Sports. Washington is classified among the best 15 players in the state and 100 best in the country.
In 2024, Washington made All-Conference and All-State first teams for totaling 1,450 yards and scoring 16 touchdowns.
