WVU Football Misses Out on Popular 2026 4-Star ATH

Despite a recent opportunity to impress a top 2026 recruit during an official visit, the WVU football staff started the week by missing out on a versatile prospect.

Goldsberry, a highly coveted athlete out of Indiana, revealed his college choice during a Monday ceremony at Heritage Hills High School in Lincoln City.

There was some hope within the WVU program, but Goldsberry picked Ole Miss over a group of final Power Four schools that also consisted of North Carolina, Purdue, Rutgers, Wake Forest and West Virginia. Ole Miss was where most recruiting services have had him projected to for months.

A high school quarterback, Goldsberry was recruited as simply an athlete by most programs. Goldsberry’s athleticism – he’s a three-sport athlete – makes him someone worthy of a roster spot, even if that means a position change in college, possibly to defense.

Before narrowing down his list, Goldsberry had 24 offers on the table that included Power Four opportunities from Louisville, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin.

Goldsberry is ranked as the No. 6 Indiana recruit by 247 Sports and No. 11 by Rivals.

Goldsberry took an official visit to West Virginia in mid June after his trip to Ole Miss. WVU’s offer came on March 31.
