WVU football running back Jaylen Anderson has entered the transfer portal, he announced on social media Tuesday morning.

“I am beyond grateful for the coaches and staff at WVU for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to continue to play the game I love,” he wrote. “After much consideration, I have decided I will be entering the transfer portal.”

Jaylen Anderson, a redshirt junior, will have one year of eligibility remaining. The Perry, Oh. native arrived in Morgantown in 2021, redshirting as a freshman.

In 2022, Anderson rushed for 275 and two touchdowns. He had a signature game in the regular season final at Oklahoma State, rushing for 155 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.

Anderson’s usage declined year after year, however, due to fellow running back CJ Donaldson getting healthy and the emergence of underclassman Jahiem White. Anderson carried the ball 44 times for 147 yards and a touchdown in 2023 and saw just nine carries this season, going for 34 yards.

Anderson is the latest Mountaineer to enter the portal since the end of the season, joining Bryce Biggs, Josiah Jackson, Raleigh Collins, Josiah Trotter, and TJ Crandall.
