WVU Football Reveals Uniform Combination to Defend Black Diamond Trophy

Just like with the Backyard Brawl to start the season, a big rivalry game calls for a new uniform combination for West Virginia football.
On Tuesday night, the official WVU football Twitter account released a video to unveil what the Mountaineers will look like on Thursday night in Blacksburg, Virginia.

In similar fashion to the Country Roads uniforms from the Pitt game, WVU will be wearing blue pants with a white jersey and white helmets. The white jerseys will have dark lettering outlined by the yellowish like gold with “West Virginia” over the number on the front. The white helmet will include a stripe down the middle and the flying WV logo inside a blue image of the state of West Virginia.

The video highlights former Virginia Tech Hokie and current Mountaineer Doug Nester carrying a sledgehammer and then the Black Diamond Trophy, the trophy WVU will be defending in this year’s matchup.
The Mountaineers will make their first trip to Lane Stadium in over a decade Thursday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
