WVU Interested in Keeping Marshall Transfer LB in West Virginia
A Marshall player has a chance to jump to the Power Four level and stay in West Virginia. Linebacker Landyn Watson received an offer from WVU on Tuesday.
Watson’s WVU offer came a day after he announced his intentions to transfer elsewhere for the final year of his college career.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Round Rock, Texas native is coming off a monster 2024 season. He made 66 total tackles and an interception as a big part of Marshall’s historic season that resulted in 10 wins and a Sun Belt Conference title.
Despite Marshall’s success on the field as a team, the program decided to not renew the contract of head coach Charles Huff and allow him to jump ship to Southern Miss. Marshall then hired West Virginia native and former WVU assistant Tony Gibson to replace Huff.
Watson, who was an three-star recruit out of high school, also has a visit scheduled with Kentucky and has offers on the table from schools like Arizona, FAU, Mississippi State, USF and even the possibility of joining Huff at Southern Miss.
