West Virginia has moved up to a 9-seed in Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketolgy. Lunardi has the Mountaineers playing 8-seed Illinois with the winner most likely facing 1-seed Alabama in Birmingham.

West Virginia is coming off their best week of the season, defeating Iowa State on the road and No. 11 Kansas State at home. The Mountaineers had their backs against the wall after losing to Texas Tech in Morgantown two weekends ago. Now, WVU is 3-1 in their last four games with the one loss coming to Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse by one basket.

West Virginia will head to Kansas City for the Big 12 Tournament, facing Texas Tech on Wednesday night.
