WVU TE Mike O’Laughlin Placed on Mackey Award Watch List

Published

When healthy, Mike O’Laughlin is an underrated piece of West Virginia’s offense. And despite some uncertainty about his availability and his recent injury history, it seems like O’Laughlin’s value is being recognized nationally.

The 6’5 Junior tight end was placed on the Mackey Award Watch List for this coming season. Established in 2000, the John Mackey Award is presented annually to college football’s most outstanding tight end.

O’Laughlin recorded only 11 catches for 65 yards last season in limited time due to a leg injury. Neal Brown did list O’Laughlin as the number 2 tight end on the initial preseason depth chart, but most expect that could change based on his rehab process.
