WVU Makes WR Pat Bryant’s Final Two, Decision Coming on Sunday

Will Neal Brown and WVU Football add another member to the Class of 2021 this weekend?

2021 3-star wide receiver Pat Bryant (Jacksonville, Florida) plans to announce his college decision and will be deciding between West Virginia and Illinois. Before deciding on this two as his top contenders, Bryant also received offers from Florida State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Miami, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Bryant tells WV Sports Now that the biggest reason the Mountaineers are a finalist is because of new offensive coordinator Gerald Parker, who was also recruiting him while at Penn State.

“I want to make my decision now in order to take some weight off my back which will allow me to properly concentrate on my senior season,” Bryant told WV Sports Now. “Coach Bryant and Coach Trickett both offered me at a camp during my 10th grade season and I’ve been talking to both of them ever since.”

“I’ve been able to build a great relationship with Coach Parker since he was at Penn State and have continued to bond since he came to West Virginia. He hasn’t been just recruiting me as a player, it’s been more on a personal level. He’s always seeing how things are going with me personally and for him to do that without me a part of the West Virginia team shows a lot to me. One of my homeboys from Columbia High School that went to Penn State, I’ve been talking to him and asking about Coach Parker. When he left, he talked to all of the receivers and told them how much he loved them and how much he enjoyed coaching them. That shows that he’s not just a coach but someone that’s like a father figure as well.”

Bryant is coming off a season where he caught 45 passes for 684 yards and 11 touchdowns. We asked him, aside from the coaches, what else interests him about Neal Brown’s program?

“I definitely see a lot of growth there and believe they’re close and are just missing one or two dogs to get them going,” said Bryant. “I believe that I’m someone that can step in there and make an impact quick. I’m a player that is physical at the line and am comfortable with contact. I believe that I’m a real aggressive player and really attack the routes that I run.”

Because of COVID-19, Bryant wasn’t able to visit Morgantown but despite that is comfortable and feels ready to make his decision this Sunday afternoon.

“The coaches gave me a virtual tour of the campus, the facilities, the academic center and about West Virginia in general. I also have been able to do some homework and research on them myself. I’m excited to announce my decision because it’s been a long road for me. My recruiting started pretty early going back to my freshman year so I’ve been going through it for a long time. I just want to get this weight off my back, get to college and then to the next level.”
