In the Holler: Top WVU Football 2026 Recruit Shares Details About Spring Visit
The WVU football staff is putting most of their attention recruiting wise on what’s to come in 2025, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t always looking at future years as well. And part of doing that is maintaining relationships with top prospects who could be part of their 2026 class.
One player who completely fits the bill of a 2026 athlete the Mountaineers are putting in an effort for a year early is Samari Matthews, a Cornellious, N.C. native who currently attends William Amos Hough High School.

WV Sports Now caught up with the 6-foot-1 and about 185- pound Matthews after his recent trip to Morgantown to attend spring practice. Beyond just posting that he had a great time and thanking the Mountaineers for inviting him, Matthews offered more details about his experience and his recruitment overall.
Matthews has earned a four-star rating from several national recruiting outlets, most notably 247 Sports, On3.com and Rivals.
