Two now former Mountaineers agreed to terms with MLB teams Friday following this years record draft for WVU Baseball.

According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, Mountaineer Ace Alek Monoah has agreed to a deal valued at $4,547,500 with the Toronto Blue Jays. After a spectacular junior campaign wearing the gold and blue, Monoah was selected 11th overall by the Blue Jays matching former WVU pitcher Chris Enochs as highest drafted Mountaineer in program history. During his three years in Morgantown, Alek Monoah earned a career ERA of 2.81 while holding opponents to a batting average of just .212.

Catcher Chase Illig, according to his instagram, has signed a deal to become apart of the New York Yankees organization. After sitting out of the 2019 season due to injury, Illig was selected in the 29th round by New York. Playing just two full seasons in Morgantown, Illig racked up 47 starts with a career batting average of .223 with 43 hits and 8 home runs. No further details of the deal are known at this time.

Monoah and Illig join RHP Kade Strowd, who announced via Instagram on Thursday that he will sign with the Orioles, as the three Mountaineers to announce their signings following this years draft.
