West Virginia’s Konate goes undrafted in 2019 NBA Draft

Just moments ago, the 2019 NBA Draft concluded and former West Virginia big man Sagaba Konate did not hear his name called.

Heading into the 2018-19 season, Konate was widely regarded as a lottery pick and late first round pick at worst. Due to a nagging knee injury, he saw his stock plummet so far to being an undrafted free agent.

He still has the opportunity to sign with an NBA team and participate in the Summer League and potentially make a G-League roster. If no NBA team takes a chance on him, don’t expect it to take long before Konate heads overseas.

Konate finished his career as the schools all-time leading shot blocker with 191 blocks. He also averaged 8 points and 5.5 rebounds during his two and a half years.
